Longest day of the Summer Solstice 2013

The phenomenon of Summer Solstice
The third week of June, the summer finally stopped in Germany and around the areas. Today the temperature reached 31 Celsius grad.
Germany last March even still covered in snow, April-May rains causing flooding in eastern Germany. Temperatures below 20 grad Celsius may be most convenient point.

Science of geography and astronomy describes 2 types of natural phenomena, the summer / winter solstice and equinox.

1. Summer / Winter Solstice

For 2013 estimated on June 21 is the longest day which bodes start of summer for the region of the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere. Then, on December 21, to be the longest night in the Northern Hemisphere indicate that winter has arrived, and the opposite occurs in the southern hemisphere.

Because the earth rotates on its axis, one side of the earth gets sunlight for longer depending on the position of the planet in its orbit. In June, the northern hemisphere is at a slope toward the sun, and in December, the southern hemisphere is at a slope toward the sun.

For this case, several countries in mainland Europe, especially Scandinavia celebrated the arrival of summer through the Midsummer Festival to witness the phenomenon of the midnight sun. At the same time, the city of Auckland, New Zealand is only able to enjoy the heat for 9 hours 36 minutes. On the position of the summer solstice (June 21) the sun is at its farthest from the equator.

 2. Equinox

If the summer solstice to be the cause of summer and winter, the equinox to be the background of the autumn and spring. Equinox is a phenomenon when the sun is directly above the equator, usually occurred March 20 and 22 September each year.

At the time the equinox occurs in March, the northern hemisphere having spring. As in Germany and the Netherlands, the perfect time to enjoy the beautiful tulips and colorful flowers are in March-April. While the southern hemisphere experiencing autumn, preparing awaits arrival of winter in June.

Territories which are automatically equator only have two seasons, rainy and dry season, so that countries like Indonesia are called tropical climate countries. Similarly, Brazil, Kenya, Colombia, and 10 other equatorial countries.
